~ Madonna, Lucky Star
This is maybe the first female musician I remember hearing. I was raised on The Beatles, Queen, The Who, Madonna, ABBA, Simon and Garfunkel and David Bowie. My parents liked music and played it often, and my grandad liked Madonna and Queen, and you’ve never lived until you’ve heard a gruff Yorkshireman singing Like A Virgin at the top of his voice.
I listen to Madonna on quiet days when I want to dance around. She’s one of my favourites and was an influence on my early life. Whatever you think of her you can’t deny that she’s influential and immensely talented.
